The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, God will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge. The inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and (even) the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learned over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave (no monetary inheritance), they leave only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion. - Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 1631

Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The superiority of the learned over the devout worshipper is like my superiority over the most inferior amongst you (in good deeds)." He went on to say, "Allah, His angels, the dwellers of the heaven and the earth, and even the ant in its hole and the fish (in water) supplicate in favour of those who teach people knowledge."

Statement of Imam Shafi’i

“After the obligatory deeds, nothing is more beloved to Allah than studying knowledge.”

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said:

“Seeking knowledge is a duty upon every Muslim

s Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: “Lo! Indeed the world is cursed. What is in it is cursed, except for remembrance of Allah, what is conducive to that, the knowledgeable person and the learning person.” hasan

It was narrated that Zirr bin Hubaish said: “I went to Safwan bin ‘Assal Al-Muradi and he said: ‘What brought you here?’ I said: ‘I am seeking knowledge.’ He said: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah say: “There is no one who goes out of his house in order to seek knowledge, but the angels lower their wings in approval of his action.’” hasan

Abud-Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:The Messenger of Allah () said, “He who follows a path in quest of knowledge, Allah will make the path of Jannah easy to him. The angels lower their wings over the seeker of knowledge, being pleased with what he does. The inhabitants of the heavens and the earth and even the fish in the depth of the oceans seek forgiveness for him. The superiority of the learned man over the devout worshipper is like that of the full moon to the rest of the stars (i.e., in brightness). The learned are the heirs of the Prophets who bequeath neither dinar nor dirham but only that of knowledge; and he who acquires it, has in fact acquired an abundant portion.”

[Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi].

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah () said: “Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him.” saheeh

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah () said, “He who goes forth in search of knowledge is considered as struggling in the Cause of Allah until he returns.”  [At- Tirmidhi] hasan

Anas (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah () used to say, “O Allah! Grant me benefit in what you have taught me, and teach me useful knowledge and provide me with knowledge that will benefit me.” Related by An-Nasa’i and Al-Hakim.

Narrated Zayd ibn Thabit:

I heard the Messenger of Allah () say: May Allah brighten a man who hears a tradition from us, gets it by heart and passes it on to others. Many a bearer of knowledge conveys it to one who is more versed than he is; and many a bearer of knowledge is not versed in it. saheeh

it was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘May Allah cause to flourish a slave (of His) who hears my words and understands them, then he conveys them from me. There are those who have knowledge but no understanding, and there may be those w ho convey knowledge to those who may have more understanding of it than they do.’” hasan

Narrated Ibn Mas`ud: The Prophet () used to take care of us in preaching by selecting a suitable time, so that we might not get bored. (He abstained from pestering us with sermons and knowledge all the time). bukhari

It was narrated from Jabir bin ‘Abdullah that:The Prophet said: “Do not seek knowledge in order to show off in front of the scholars, or to argue with the foolish, and do not choose thebest seat in a gathering, due to it (i.e. the knowledge which you have learned) for whoever does that, the Fire, the Fire (awaits him).” daif

Narrated Abu Hurairah:that the Messenger of Allah () said: “Whoever is asked about some knowledge that he knows, then he conceals it, he will be bridled with bridle of fire.” hasan

Narrated Ibn ‘Umar: that the Prophet () said: “Whoever learns knowledge for other than (the sake of) Allah, or intends by it other than Allah, then let him take his seat in the Fire.” daif

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet () said: If anyone acquires knowledge of things by which Allah’s good pleasure is sought, but acquires it only to get some worldly advantage, he will not experience the arf, i.e. the odour, of Paradise. saheeh

supirioty of the alim over the abid

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘One Faqih (knowledgeable man) is more formidable against the Shaitan than one thousand devoted worshippers.’”

Masruq (May Allah be pleased with him) said: We visited ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (May Allah be pleased with him) and he said to us: O people! He who has the knowledge of any matter may convey it to the others. And he who has no knowledge, thereof, should say: “Allahu a’lam (Allah knows better).” It is a part and parcel of knowledge that a man who has no knowledge of a matter should say: “Allah knows better.” Allah said to His Prophet ():

“Say (O Muhammad ()): ‘No wage do I ask of you for this (the Qur’an), nor am I one of the Mutakallifun (those who pretend and fabricate things which do not exist).”‘ (38:86)[Al-Bukhari].

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Amr that: The Prophet [SAW] used to seek refuge (with Allah) from four things: From knowledge that is of no benefit, from a heart that does not feel humble, from a supplication that is not heard, and a soul that is never satisfied. hasan

What an excellent reward for the doers (of good)96 for those who have shown patience97 and put full trust in their Lord!98 How many creatures are there that do not carry their provisions with them: Allah provides for them and for you too: He hears everything and knows everything.

Allah will provide for you as well from the sources from which He is providing for the countless of His other creatures:"

Precisely the same thing was taught by the Prophet Jesus (may Allah's peace be upon him) to his disciples when he had said:

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold :o the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than treat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall .we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek ) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." (Matthew. 6: 2434).
