Overhaul the system

THE politico-social and economic structures fostered by our political, agricultural, industrial and military-bureaucratic elite are incapable of conceiving and devising policies and revitalising decaying institutional structures for stimulating economic growth. This article attempts to explain this argument.

For historical reasons, the administrative structure is maintenance-oriented, as opposed to production-oriented. Although its orientation and authoritarian outlook might convey the impression that it is in command, it has given up on even going through the motions to manage an increasingly dysfunctional state structure.

It can merely try to extract whatever it can from the domestically generated surplus to meet its ‘operational’ needs. That’s why expenditure on public administration and defence has grown at a faster pace than that of value-added commodity-producing/‘real’ sectors of the economy. Whereas the contributing share of the latter in GDP fell from 41pc in 2005-06 to 40pc in 2013-14, the proportion of the national income absorbed by defence and administration increased from 5.2pc to 6.7pc over the same period.

The imperatives of a security state and dominant associated institutional structures have resulted in poor prioritisation of spending and diversion of resources from critical expenditures on social services, greater centralisation of administrative and financial powers and resource distribution, and the continuing conflict with democratic forces within the federating units.

Whereas the thin upper stratum thrives, the poor are pushed out of the ambit of development.

A selfish feudal, industrial and military-bureaucratic elite has presided over an elite formation process and an economic structure that patronises rent-seeking, is inward-looking and lacks connectedness with the rest of the world. This structure is also reluctant to create a more equitable society in which the less fortunate can be empowered through a merit-driven system to provide equality of opportunity for social and economic mobility.

The elite is unwilling, even in its own enlightened self-interest, to contribute on the basis of capacity to bear the resource burden required to build a fairer society. Instead, it has instituted a social order that imbibes the feudal value system and promotes a culture of paternalistic and personal relations (in contrast to impersonal market relationships and a culture of competitiveness in other economies), nepotism and patronage, violation of the rule of law, non-acceptance of the norms of fair play and justice, etc; wrecking institutions meant for checking such excesses. Even a slowly growing middle class from non-elite backgrounds has adapted to these value systems, creating a crisis of legitimacy for the state and its institutions.

Moreover, the commitment to the strengthening of institutions other than those protecting the self-serving interests of these bureaucracies has, at best, been muffled, affecting the quality of governance and the selection of economic and social programmes for fuelling development.

Politicians from these propertied and ‘rentier’ classes with limited vision, wisdom and intellectual competence and dubious credentials have not only supported the status quo but also exploited their position to use public resources for private gain, while institutions crumbled around them.

They are perceived to be lining their pockets, having become brokers and bounty hunters with the bureaucracy as consort, making the country a private trading post and politics a business in favours to be bought or sold. New dimensions of abuse of power and privileges have become the norm. Had the economy been growing rapidly and distribution of prosperity been more widespread, these would not be issues. But with declining growth rates, mounting corruption has invited the resentment and anger of a population struggling against the ravages of inflation and dwindling employment opportunities, while the mentioned groups, living it up, failed to lead by example.

Whereas the thin upper stratum of society thrives, the poor are pushed out of the ambit of the development process. The poor also suffer because services and other benefits are inadequate in number and of inferior quality. Nor do they reach the intended beneficiaries, either owing to corruption or diversion of funds to those better placed in terms of access or capacity to acquire related benefits. Resultantly, income and wealth differentials between the privileged and the indigent have widened, increasing polarisation in society.

So where do we go from here, since it is not clear if recent political events have induced a rethink or will it be business as usual with the storm blowing over? Owing to space limitations, only some recommendations are listed below.

— Initiate urgently needed electoral, judicial and civil service reforms — each requiring separate treatment in future articles.

— Dilute influence of Punjab by carving out additional provinces from it, thereby strengthening the participatory nature of the federation.

— Establish and nurture an effective local government system.

— Give provinces full control over their natural resources like minerals, oil and gas and coastlines.

— Ensure an equitable tax regime that taxes all incomes, irrespective of source, equally.

— Make public office less attractive so that those with suspect integrity do not aspire for such positions. Hence, in the interest of transparency, accountability and good governance, income tax and the wealth returns of all legislators and every public servant appointed as head of the armed forces, or secretary or head of a public agency, and those of their family members (including married daughters) should be public documents during the term of office and three years thereafter.

— Parliamentary ratification of all key positions like auditor general, attorney general, chief election commissioner, chairman NAB, governor State Bank, etc.

— Roll back all discretionary powers, especially to relax rules and give tax concessions, at present liberally distributed among public representatives and state functionaries.

— Enact a robust Right to Information Act that opens up government decision making to parliamentary and public scrutiny.

— The ordinary public is convinced that government officials can never be facilitators and can only harm them. Therefore, make the administrative machinery lean, starting with a substantial downsizing of the federal government, required anyway following the 18th Amendment.

— Finally, privatise all state-owned financial institutions and those holding non-monopoly positions in other sectors of the economy.

Imagine if the press release post the corps commanders’ meeting had neither issued instructions to the government nor spoken of abiding by “national aspirations” and had simply reminded everyone that the khakis are under oath to “uphold the Constitution”, which embodies the “will of the people” and to not “engage … in any political activities whatsoever.” Would that leave any room to drag the military’s good name into this political squabble?

Do the khakis not realise that Pakistan has a long history of military coups and interference from behind the curtain?

Is it then fair to begrudge critique of the military’s role in politics?

Do any ISPR press releases exist blacklisting Geo TV or expressing disquiet over the Musharraf trial?

Are khaki views on these matters a secret?

Despite repeated court orders, Geo’s transmission has not been restored. Cable operators across Pakistan are risking their licenses to ensure Geo’s blackout. Is this a coincidence?

There emerged a ‘meray aziz humwatno’ moment after the attack on PTV when the government’s writ seemed non-existent. That it did not happen is no small mercy.

But the dissipating fear of imminent military intervention must not encourage the Nawaz regime to test khaki resolve any further.

The ‘long march’ and dharnas have exposed the vulnerability of our constitutional order. In defending themselves, the Nawaz regime and parliament have cashed out most of their legitimacy and political capital.

And let us not forget that many who find praetorians to be more damaging to our future than failing politicos are only reluctant defenders of the ‘system’ as it exists.

Imran Khan could still walk away from D-chowk politically much stronger than when he arrived.

Imran Khan made some poor choices this past month (eg associating with Tahirul Qadri, using foul language, and calling for civil disobedience, the non-payment of taxes and the use of hundi, etc.).

Also Read: PTI to mark completion of one month

But he could still walk away from D-Chowk politically much stronger than when he arrived if he can end this phase of his movement constructively by securing meaningful electoral reform, the initiation of electoral audit by a non-partisan commission, and reaffirming his commitment to changing the system while working through it.

IK’s critique of how our state and its institutions continue to fail us resonates with ordinary people. What our power elite probably fails to appreciate is the disquiet, and the ferocity of it, that citizens share for the manner in which our country is being run.

And desperation can cause people to develop a blind spot for the limitations afflicting individuals who emerge as symbols of change.

The many failings of the then chief justice, Iftikhar Chaudhry, were overlooked by people as the need for rule of law, constitutionalism and un-perverted justice resonated with ordinary people and they saw the return of the chief justice as a means to that desirable end.

No allegation — taunts of being a PCO judge, stories of Arsalan Iftikhar and nepotism, the love for protocol, etc — hurt Mr Chaudhry at the time.

Today it is Imran Khan’s Teflon moment.

You can throw anything at him — skeletons from a past life, Jewish ex-wife, the embracing of pro-dictator politicians, contradictions, U-turns, impossible demands, unsubstantiated allegations, self-righteousness, etc — and it doesn’t stick.

It doesn’t stick because he is selling a dream that people wish to wake up in: accountability of corrupt elites, a functioning justice system, a parliament that protects the interests of those it represents, and so on.

On the one hand you have moth-eaten structures, patronage-driven politics and its apologists. On the other you have a foolhardy IK who possesses charisma, inspires hope and wants to remake Pakistan.

Not just ordinary Joes but middle-class folks who must work the system on a daily basis want to give IK the benefit of the doubt.

We live in a predatory state where the system conspires in your favour if you are a have and against you if you are a have-not.

We have a political class whose survival and success depends on monopolising and abusing state largesse and patronage.

We have a bureaucracy whose power and nuisance emanates from its ability and proclivity to deny people their rights and state services. We are at the mercy of a justice system that further perpetuates the social and economic inequalities within society.

Life in Pakistan offers you an alternative: you can struggle to emerge a predator or remain a hapless prey. A prime motivation to become someone important — bureaucrat, judge, general, parliamentarian, etc — is not your aptitude for the job but acquiring the ability to ward off attacks from other predators.

There is so much wrongdoing all around that you would be consumed in a day if you chose to fight it each time. You would be pulled in by quicksand if you didn’t learn how to make compromises and paddle through the rot.

Exceptions apart, you are so used to having muck all over you by the time you climb up the ropes that you are no longer alive to the urgent need to cleanse yourself and your surroundings when you make it to the exclusive club. It is a vicious cycle.

But it is not sustainable.

Those who understand this don’t want IK to fail altogether, even if they don’t want him to succeed while working with tainted allies and pursuing failed ideas and misconceived means.

I dont know the whole truth of all the issues involved sitting here 12 thousand miles away in California but one thing comes to mind. The baggage of  these two  men especially TUQ and many around him  may be dubious and  they may be less or more than a 'kafir' or mushrik' or 'munafiq' ,fasiq or  fraudulent in their past but may be they have 'changed their hearts and have embraced the 'haq' now which has given them the courage. When some one says the kalima'Lailaha Illalah, we must leave him and  killing him or abusing him and continue  to rebuke him for his past sins is not allowed in deen.  Embracing Islam makes one clean from his past acts and this  was admonished by the holy Prophet(PBUH) asking the 'qatil'," "Did you open his heart and know that he was lying?" I am not sure about TUQ but consider the other sportsman a new born Muslim who may not be  as 'saqah' as our 'ulema and shuookh' who preach 'maaroof' from the minbar , but  he has shown the courage  to challenge ' financial corruption and injustices which have become rampant in Pakistani culture and social fabric due to dishonest ruling elite and the filthy rich..

Dear brothers, assalamu alaikum.

We have great respect for the sentiments of our expatriate brothers and sisters who express their views on issues related to bad governance in Pakistan.
Comments from abroad are not in favour of one or the other person but only for betterment of our beloved country. Expatriate Pakistanis hardly receive any good news from home country. If someone declares to 'eradicate' corruption, our people being desperate, start supporting him without analyzing deeply if he or she is well equipped to accomplish that or not.
Best example from near past is of ZAB who had announced 'roti, kapra and mkaan' for all but ended up without providing this gigantic facility to anyone. We can not pay heed to any new jugglers. If democracy is allowed to proceed, every national elections would yield better results than the previous ones. Insha'Allah.

Wassalam.

I am astonished to know that IK TUQ, sh Rasheed, ch shujaat, prewaiz illahi, shahmehmood and others are themselves claimants and themselves are judges, who don't find a single man in Pakistan who can prove and justify the disputed claim.l think it unjustified to implement the punishment before decision. maudoodi quotations placed by hussain khan are not justified in this matter.it is just misuse by Hussain khan.

The conspiracy against parliament

Perhaps the ISPR is oblivious to the fact that merely issuing a press release does not put the matter to rest and that most people in Pakistan do not believe in the clarification given by it

If Sheikh Rasheed of the Awami Muslim League (AML) had conducted the press conference instead of Javed Hashmi, the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), and had revealed the same as Hashmi did on the evening of September 1, 2014 in front of parliament, probably no one would have believed him. The difference between them lies in the credibility of character and action earned by Hashmi and lost by Rasheed over the years. The same integrity brought Hashmi to the PTI of Imran Khan (as chairman) and the same forced Hashmi to forsake it. Only could a person of as high a stature as Hashmi would dare to articulate the bitter truth. After calling it a “hijacked movement”, Hashmi appealed to other members of the PTI to listen to the voice of their conscience and balk at becoming part of any conspiracy hatched to bring parliament down. It was not that Hashmi was in favour of the sitting government, as is being projected, but it was that, as he said, he did not want to be part of any party manoeuvred by non-democratic forces. To reinforce his argument, Hashmi revealed that Khan kept deriving his strength by naming the army and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). Hours later, on September 1, in response to the press conference, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a press release to clear its position but it did so without conducting any investigation to verify the authenticity of Hashmi’s assertions before issuing the press release.
In principle, there should have been no need for Hashmi to point an accusing finger at the army and the ISI, as both are responsible institutions. Nevertheless, in Gujranwala, Rasheed who was accompanying Khan on the container pleaded publicly to the army to intervene. Why did the ISPR not issue any press release at that time to declare the indifference of the army from the whole issue and condemn the speaker? In Islamabad, Khan started referring to the “third umpire” who was about to raise the finger in his favour and against the government. Were the army authorities too naive to discern the meaning of the message? Subsequently, not only Khan but also Dr Tahirul Qadri of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) referred several times to the third umpire in their speeches. Why did the ISPR not issue a press release that the third umpire did not mean the army? The deliberate silence of the army (or the ISPR) on the repeated allusions kept putting the government under pressure and encouraging Khan and Dr Qadri to up the ante before they inch towards their final destination: parliament. Was this point also not known to the army? Perhaps the ISPR is oblivious to the fact that merely issuing a press release does not put the matter to rest and that most people in Pakistan do not believe in the clarification given by it. Currently, the people believe more in the words of Hashmi than in the words of the ISPR.
In his press conference, Hashmi also said that Khan at least once claimed to have an “understanding”, “arrangement” or “settlement” with the incumbent Chief Justice (CJ) of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan through “certain people”. Furthermore, as Hashmi said, a lawyer would file a writ petition that would eventually lead, somehow, to the removal of both Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif from their seats by the CJ. In this regard, many people see a reason in the acts of lawyer Hamid Khan (who is a member of the PTI and who lost in the elections to Khawaja Saad Rafique in Lahore) for getting adjournments time and again in the election tribunal despite the fact that he was the suitor. Reportedly, on September 1, while hearing the plea against the extra-constitutional act, when the court encouraged (or asked) Hamid Khan to tell the court “what kind of suo motu should be taken” to resolve the crisis after the (full) court becomes the “final mediator”, Hashmi became sure of the beginning of the last episode of the act and decided to go public. Hashmi also claimed that the present CJ had “ensured [the third party] to play a role in Sharif’s removal”.
The next day, in response to Hashmi’s press conference, the CJ made a remark during the hearing to clarify his position but the question is this: was the matter so simple as to just contradict the allegations, if not assertions, without listening to Hashmi (and Imran Khan)? Was it just a trivial intraparty dispute devoid of any bearing on the reputation of the court? The events subsequent to Hashmi’s press conference indicated something grave. For instance, both Khan and Dr Qadri stopped mentioning the “third umpire” even as a pep talk point to their supporters in their speeches. Altaf Hussain, the leader of the MQM, who had invited the army publicly just two days ago to intervene and make a national government, suddenly started speaking in favour of parliament. To shed the impression of being the army’s front man, even Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain spoke against General (retired) Ashfaq Pervez Kayani.
Perhaps the SC is overlooking the fact that it will be made free of any speck of guilt not only by giving remarks in the court but by doing something more. It is the fundamental right of all Pakistanis to know the truth. Currently, people believe more in the words of Hashmi than in the words of the CJ. Both the army and the SC should understand that the disclosures made by Hashmi are not only startling but they are also bound to have strong political repercussions. Hashmi has dwarfed both institutions that now need to look into the matter through a credible formal process of investigation to exonerate their names. That would be the best way to close the matter.

Imran, Qadri Successfully Jolting Status Quo ‘System’

Today after about seven decades of our independence there is much hue and cry about the need for social, economic, political and especially electoral reforms in view of the large-scale rigging generally in all elections and particularly in the elections 2013. It is bitter truth that there has been a steady deterioration in the standards and practices of the political class. Over the years, Parliament has severally amended the laws relating to elections but it was even worse every time providing room for two largest parties further ruthless rigging. The People of Pakistan have now ultimately tired of the constant destitution and want a change in the way they are governed. They need reforms in all the aspects of life to align them with their aspirations; they need affordable food, affordable utilities, low cost quality education, and of course affordable medical care. They need ending prevailing rampant corruption which has shaken the roots of the country.

The PPP government was the most corrupt in our history. According to independent observers about Rs.18,000 billion was looted and plundered in their tenure, and over that five year period that we celebrate so joyously as a ‘success for democracy’. Corrupt, incapable, inefficient, selfish, greedy are all the words used to describe the Pakistani civilian governments. Is it the ‘democracy’ that our Quaid-e-Azam had aspired for which puts criminals, gangsters and crooks in power and suffocates the poor common man. There is no real democracy in Pakistan. There could be hardly few in the parliament loyal only to real democracy, the constitution, and the state. Most of them are bloodsuckers. Like vampires, they suck our blood, the blood of Pakistan’s people. For decades they sucked our soul, but I think they don’t see it enough. And now from virtual blood sucking they are inclined to suck real blood, the blood of our children, our mothers and sisters, and our sons. Indeed, the so called democratic governments have not given us anything to be proud of. They have betrayed the people time after time, but again it is our duty as citizens to seek for those who will put our interest first. It is a pity that Gen. Kayani stood by and watched the country and its poor people being plundered ruthlessly. Some people say that even he had joined hands with President Zardari.

Poverty in Pakistan is constantly on the rise which is gross injustice. Injustice is people starving, injustice is people without a home, and injustice is people being poor. The people of Pakistan are in utter hopelessness and there is no ray of hope for them in the near future. Come to the sitting regime. The people have started selling their children and are committing suicides due to their inability to feed their families just two times a day. The common man has been burdened by increasing prices. The public has been pushed to corner by the electricity prices which have been increased by more than 85% in a year during current regime, the highest increase in the history of Pakistan. The prices of essential commodities like grains, rice, oil, tomato, potato and onions have increased such that are out of reach of common man, while the prices of other basic necessities of life are also constantly on the rise. The people in major areas of the country are faced with starvation. The prices of petroleum products are decreased in the international market but ironically government has been constantly increasing their prices. In short, every passing day brings with it new sufferings for the poor People of Pakistan. This corrupt government too is killing the people of Pakistan but again Gen. Raheel Sharif has become a silent spectator.

The PPP and PML-N successive governments remained oblivious & negligent having no welfare plan for a common man – unemployment is speedily rising- people are starving to death for no food – no electricity – no water – no gas – no CNG – unbridled corruption and rampant lawlessness – tussles among public institutions; it is efficiency of the parliament and the governments. The judicial system of Pakistan is so structured to ensure access to the courts and justice system for rich and powerful only instead of ensuring equal justice under law for all citizens. It is complicated; time consuming, expensive and pro-rich. Voice of the poor is never heard and it is always the privileged who wins court battles. The people have lost trust in institutions due to lack of justice; the signs can be seen everywhere.

All the political parties have betrayed the people of Pakistan. They have utterly failed even in identifying their suffering and pains. They are absolutely unaware of real problems of the people. Imran Khan’s PTI and Tahir-ul-Qadri’s PAT are the political parties who took the field really wanting change in Pakistani politics which has kindled hope among the people who are groping in the dark. Both parties believe in shattering the status quo. All the political parties in the parliament are now together against the on-going sit-in protest outside the Parliament to break the status quo. Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri moved the nation into awakening followed by action. As all of Pakistan watched and cried with them as scam after scam was revealed during the so called democratic regimes by rinsing the pockets of poor people, these men awoke Pakistan’s forgotten class and shook Pakistan’s conscience telling the common man that the power of change was the need of the hour. The youth, destitute poor and middle class have given vide acceptance to the message of change breaking status quo. Their sit-ins in front of the Parliament have jolted the major status quo parties. Although the government has disturbed the movement of the people by placing containers or hurdles yet the people of Pakistan see whole the situation as victory sign.

The Parliament should be very clear that if the army takes over the country, it would be due to PML-N’s repeated undemocratic acts coupled with extremely harsh language used by its cabinet members, repeated speeches of bogus parliamentarians against army and the people of Pakistan, and not because of peaceful sit-ins of Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri.

Imran decides to move SC against Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday decided to go to the Supreme Court on Monday against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for allegedly lying on the floor of parliament.

He alleged that Nawaz Sharif had tried to malign the army by saying that his party was staging a sit-in in the federal capital on its direction.

Imran was speaking to his cheering supporters at the sit-in that has been shifted back to the Parade Ground. He, once again, reiterated his resolve not to move out of his container till the resignation of the prime minister.

He charged that the government had also lied about postponement of the visit of the president of China, whose visit, he claimed, was actually still under consideration.

The PTI chief went on to charge that the prime minister’s brother-in-law had also lied in the National Assembly about the 4.1 percent economic growth, which was in fact 3.3 percent, as he could not hide it from the IMF during talks for more loans.

He also claimed the government had also lied that the five demands of the PTI had been accepted, as when they asked the government representatives for a commitment in writing, they backed out.

“In a Western democracy, even if one lie is caught, you have to resign and this is the difference between fake democracy here and true democracy in the West; the alliance between Nawaz and Zardari is in fact a union of corruption,” he alleged.

He pointed out that Maulana Rumi had once said that a nation would destroy itself by not differentiating between the good and the bad. He asked the people of Pakistan to rise for a change to rid it of the corrupt ruling elite.

Imran said he and the nation would never forgive Maulana Fazlur Rehman for his derogatory statement against his party’s female supporters.

The PTI chief came up with another report of an election tribunal and alleged that the incumbent National Assembly was fake and so was the prime minister, and repeated his demand for a poll probe after the resignation of Nawaz.

He alleged that Nawaz was trying to establish a monarchy and was hence above the law, whereas in a democracy, voters could hold their elected leader accountable.

Nawaz, he alleged, was the owner of assets worth billions of rupees but had transferred his assets in the name of his family members to avoid payment of taxes.

He wondered what magic his two sons knew that one of them was running a company in England, having a value of Rs200 billion and they also had a flat near Hyde Park that is valued at Rs8 billion.

About the conciliation between Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Aitzaz Ahsan, Imran alleged that Nawaz had silenced Nisar in order to hide their corruption.

“This is a decisive war to end the 30-year trend of musical chairs between two parties that is based on dividing the nation along Sunni and Shia lines,” he alleged.

He strongly condemned the killing of Allama Ali Akbar Kumaili and said it was a global conspiracy to divide Pakistan along sectarian lines. He said Pakistanis, irrespective of their sect or religion, are one nation.

Sharing the findings of a report of the Election Tribunal regarding NA-128 (Lahore), Imran noted that total votes polled were 192,000, whereas when counting took place, they had increased to 223,000 and hence 31,000 votes were stuffed by the returning officer. Likewise, he said that in PP-160, ballot box bags could not be found.

Online adds: The PTI protest sit-in has moved back to D-Chowk (Constitution Avenue) in front of the Parliament House from outside the Pakistan Secretariat

“Our demonstration will now continue in D-Chowk...until Nawaz Sharif steps down as prime minister”, Khan had told his workers.

The protestors have also set up makeshift tents at D-Chowk.

NNI adds: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers on Saturday refused to return to D-Chowk, forcing Dr Tahirul Qadri to withdraw his announcement. Qadri’s container was again parked in front of the Cabinet Block. According to the PAT workers, they will not retreat from their position at any cost

Qadri vows to put country on track through ‘revolutionary reforms’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Wednesday squarely blamed “wrong policies” of rulers for rendering the country insecure, and vowed to put the country on track through revolutionary reforms that he believed is the panacea to resolve the crisis.
“We will bring such reforms that will ensure an end to the rule of few hundreds of families in the country,” a fiery Dr Qadri said, adding, “We will make the parliament true representative of the people by abolishing the evil of nepotism.”  “We want true restoration of true democracy.” He vowed that he would introduce a system of equality and transparency in the country and would leave no stone unturned to uproot the menace of corruption. “Democracy is not possible without bringing economic independence, while currently country has become unsafe due to poor policies of the incumbent regime,” the PAT Chief said.
Addressing his diehard party workers and devotees staying put at the Constitution Avenue, Dr Qadri said,” the emotions of the parliamentarians for the people of the country are all fake”. He said, “We are being taught that a revolution can only take place through the votes, constitution and the parliament, but the truth is that the constitution is no more in-force and the parliament has not delivered to the people of the country”. He alleged that the incumbent regime is the result of rigging and corruption. He said ruling regime has robbed the will and mandate of the masses. “I want participatory democracy in the country and installation of a national government for democratic reforms, as the system cannot be changed without bringing revolution in the country,” he said.
Qadri accused that 70 per cent tax evaders and loan defaulters have become members of the parliament.
“Parliament is unconstitutional, illegal, undemocratic and immoral,” Qadri said.
He vowed that none could block the revolution if the marchers bent upon it. He said the constitution is no longer in-force and we have come to ‘revive’ it. Dr Qadri said if the constitution were in-force, then the people would be getting their rights and there was no need for them to arrive in Islamabad. He said that the rulers do not come through the votes; rather they rob the mandate of the people in order to legitimize their tyranny.
About the present economic condition of the country, the PAT Chief said that country’s economy was about to collapse which was highly dependent on borrowings and remained unable to pay even the interests of loan.  Qadri labelled the current system brutal and ruthless, saying it is thriving on corruption and has failed miserably to give justice to the poor masses. Emotional looking Qadri noted that Pakistan is rich in resources and can function without loans. He accused the rulers of being involved in corruption. “Pakistan is besieged in the hands of smugglers, while flight of capital is on the rise” firebrand Canada national cleric said.  “Around Rs75billion is being smuggled every month from three air ports of Pakistan,” he claimed.  Tahirul Qadri said that rulers and influential lords are looting the wealth of the country and laundering it abroad. He said the economy of the state is on the brink of devastation, while Rs 8 billion are lost to corruption every day. The PAT chief quoted a former Governor of State Bank as saying that nearly 250 billion rupees are laundered out of Pakistan daily. He said the
present government has acquired Rs 10,000 billion worth of loans.
The PAT Chief questioned how can be the national treasure enhanced, when so much of corruption is taking place and how the poor can get food, clothing and accommodation.
Criticizing the economic policies of incumbent regime, Qadri censured the economic policy of the government and resorting to foreign and domestic borrowings and said that country has accumulated a Rs 10,000 billion external and internal debt
Dr Tahirul Qadri also said we want a system based on equality and justice, adding that the members of the parliament are lying about the inside of his container. He asked the parliamentarians to inquire about the reality of his container from the members of treasury, opposition and other political heads, who had arrived at it for negotiations. Qadri said he would give alternative economic system by bringing economic transparencies in the country and would implement a culture of simplicity. He said Rs200billion to Rs300billion can be saved by adopting a simple system of ruling. He advised the rulers to adopt simplicity instead of ruling the country like Mughal kingship. Speaking about floods, the PAT chief said it was government’s responsibility to make arrangements for preventing losses, not the participants of the sit-ins. He said the flood caused havoc due to poor performance of the government as no precautionary measures were taken to save the lives of poor people.

Army Expresses Grave Concern Over Blatant Use of Force to End Political Standoff

August 31, 2014 0

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army has shown serious concern over prevailing political chaos in the country with the government of beleaguered Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif locked in a showdown with protesters demanding his resignation. A high profile Corps Commanders’ conference presided over by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif was held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to assess the situation.
In a strong worded terse statement issued by ISPR, the army showed support for democracy but expressed annoyance over use of power against protestors.
“While reaffirming support to democracy, the conference reviewed with serious concern, the existing political crisis and the violent turn it has taken, resulting in large scale injuries and loss of lives, situation should be resolved politically without wasting any time and without recourse to violent means”. ISPR statement said.
The statement also cautioned that “further use of force will only aggravate the problem”.
While trying to stay impartial in the current political standoff against Premier Sharif, the army said it “remains committed to playing its part in ensuring security of the state and will never fall short of meeting national aspirations”.
The high profile meeting was initially called on Monday but was rescheduled to today which sent a clear message to the political leadership that the army is with “democracy” and the “state of Pakistan” and not with a particular individual.
The ISPR statement clearly gives a veiled warning to the federal government against the blatant use of force by the police as it could “aggravate the problem”.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and cleric Tahir-ul-Qadri have been protesting in highly sensitive zone of Islamabad since August 14 with thousands of supporters, demanding Sharif’s ouster. Khan alleges that last year’s general election which brought Sharif to power was rigged.

Commission Report Reveals Massive Rigging in NA-128

September 7, 2014 0

Lahore – An Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) report submitted before Election tribunal has revealed massive rigging in NA-128 constituency of Lahore in last year’s general elections.
The ECP inquiry commission submitted the report before election tribunal of Justice (r) Kazim Malik on Saturday which revealed that 30,472 bogus votes had been polled in the constituency while record of 24,493 votes was missing during the investigation.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Muhammad Afzal Khokhar had emerged victorious from the constituency by bagging 122464 votes. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Malik Karamat Ali Khokhar, who was runners-up with 78295 votes, had challenged his victory in the election tribunal.
According to ECP report, a total 192,660 votes were cast in NA-128 that has 3,34,256 registered voters but returning officers issued the results of having 223,132 votes.
The report stated that in Polling Station no. 11, where Patwari Raheel Asghar was deputed as presiding officer in violation of election commission’s rules, the polled votes were found in fertilizer bags instead of ballot boxes. No record of 12,000 votes was found in the abovementioned polling station.
The report also revealed that presiding officers of 175 polling stations in the constituency didn’t submit record of ballot papers in ECP.
On the other hand, Justice Kazim Malik has excused to issue verdict on PTI candidate’s petition after Khokhar expressed lack of confidence in tribunal.

Election Rigging: FAFEN Confirms Imran Khan’s Claims

Islamabad – Confirming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s claims regarding rigging in last year’s general elections, the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) has admitted that wrongdoing had been done on a number of seats of national and provincial assemblies.
Sarwar Bari, a member of FAFEN, while speaking to SAMAA TV said that on the eve of elections, the polling scheme in 93 constituencies had been changed.
He also revealed that 1, 600 appointments had been made before the election in a violation of ECP rules and that the presiding officers merged several polling stations in each other.
This is the first time that FAFEN had admitted rigging in the general elections, prior to that it had always denied PTI’s allegations, insisting that the polls were ‘completely transparent.’
Bari said that FAFEN had raised the voice against those irregularities before Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) but it didn’t take any action.
He confirmed PTI chief’s claim that in NA-266 constituency, where former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali had been declared victorious, more than 25,000 votes were rejected.
FAFEN official said ECP had appointed 400 monitors across the country to oversee the electoral process but their reports have not been issued to date.
He also confirmed that irregularities had also been found in the constituency of Balochistan Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch.

Imran Urges Masses to Come Out to Oust ‘Fake’ PM

Islamabad — Reiterating that last year’s general elections were ‘massively rigged’, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has urged the people to join his sit-in to oust Nawaz Sharif, who he said is ‘fake’ Prime Minister.

Addressing thousands of participants of sit-in here at D-Chowk, Imran said in recent by-election held in PK-68 constituency of Dera Ismail Khan, PTI candidate defeated the candidate backed by all other political parties.

He said in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTI’s government is changing the system and flour is being provided at 10 Rs per kg, cooking oil at 40 while medical facilities are ‘absolutely free’.

Further shedding the light on his party’s performance in K-P he said corruption in the province has been overhauled while anti-graft authorities have recovered more than 300 million rupees from ‘corrupt officers’.

PTI chief said as compared to other provinces, K-P government has earmarked more budget for education and established one thousand schools for girls.

He said the FIR against PM Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for police crackdown on the peaceful protesters is not being registered but PTI will get it lodged at every cost.

The cricketer-turned-politician also promised to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state, ‘where all citizens will enjoy equal and justice would prevail.’

He also claimed that PML-N government issued 500 billion to Independent Power Plants (IPPs) soon after taking the charge without conducting any audit and Auditor General of Pakistan was kept unware of the payment.

Making new ‘revelations’ regarding ‘rigging’ in last year’s elections, Imran said in Bhakkar PTI candidate bagged 98000 votes while rival candidate obtained 92000 votes but presiding officer held back the result and for several hours and when it was announced, over 13000 votes were rejected.

PML-N Lawmaker Rana Shoaib Sent to Jail

(THIS IS THE SELECTION OF NAWAZ SHARIF TO GIVE TICKETS TO SUCH CRIMINALS)

FaisalabadRana Shoaib Idress, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker accused of attacking a police station, was sent to jail by Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday, Pakistan Tribune reported.
The member of Punjab Assembly, accompanied by dozens of armed supporters, had allegedly launched assault on Khurrianwala police station in July and freed four accused involved in criminal cases.
The attackers had also stabbed policemen, leaving a sub-inspector seriously injured, besides smashing the windows and doors of police station.
The case against Shoaib and his companions was registered under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and Anti-Terrorism Act for taking the law in their own hands, attacking policemen and damaging police station.
The police today produced lawmaker in ATC and sought extension in his physical remand. The court, however, rejected the plea and sent lawmaker behind the bars on two-day judicial remand.
The court also granted physical remand of six other accused involved in the attack.

‘Union of Corrupts’ Breathing Its Last: Imran

Islamabad – Reiterating that those sitting in parliament are ‘looters’ and ‘robbers’, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said that the ‘union of corrupts’ is breathing its last.
Addressing thousands of participants of his sit-in here at D-Chowk, Imran said neither he has ever bowed down against anyone nor will he let the Pakistani nation do so.
He said everyday new revelations about rigging in last year’s general elections are being made and now the Free and Fair Election Network (FEFAN) has also confirmed it.
He said that recent torrential rains and floods wrecked widespread devastation due to lack of embankments. He said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) are taking turns from last three decades but they haven’t constructed any dam to reserve water.
PTI chief said instead of constructing banks to stop water, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is posing for pictures in the floodwater.
He also announced to visit the flood-hit areas in Sialkot today and return to sit-in in the evening.
He said Asif Ali Zardari is standing behind Nawaz Sharif because he knows that what PML-N did in Punjab, PPP did same in Sindh and if an independent probe of election is conducted, all the wrongdoings would be exposed.
Imran reiterated that Chinese president’s visit was aimed at providing loans instead of investment, saying incumbent rulers are speaking lies one after another.
PTI chief also lashed out at Jamait-e-Ulma e Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman, saying in next election his existence in politics would perish.
He also accused Fazalur Rehman, Ahsan Iqbal, Khursheed Shah and Qaim Ali Shah of being tax evaders.
Imran also promised to truly make Pakistan an ‘Islamic welfare state’, after coming into power.
Imran also urged Supreme Court to order removal of 800 containers placed as barricades on routes leading to Islamabad, saying they’ve made life hard for people.
He said if apex court not issued the directives, his ‘tigers’ will themselves remove the containers

PTI to Sue Nawaz Sharif for ‘Lying’

Islamabad Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Saturday announced that his party will move to Supreme Court against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for telling lie in parliament and maligning Pakistan Army.
Addressing thousands of participants of his party sit-in which moved back to its previous venue at D-Chowk of the Constitution Avenue from outside parliament, PTI chief said PM Sharif told lie on floor of National Assembly regarding army and tried to malign it.
“If I am doing all this at the behest of the army, why is army not interfering?” he questioned.
Imran said had the military backing PTI, they should’ve returned to homes upon its noninterference in more than three weeks.
PTI chief said that his sit-in has entered 24th day and there should be no misconception that it would end before the resignation of Prime Minister.
“Mian Sahib, we will not leave this place as our number is increasing,” said Imran.
He said another lie of government is its claim of accepting five of PTI’s six demands.
“The government is not ready to accept any of our demands in writing,” said he.
He said inquiry commission revealed massive rigging in NA-128 constituency of Lahore after which it has been proved that the existing parliament is ‘illegitimate’.
He reiterated that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had admitted on the floor of National Assembly that from 30,000 to 70,000 votes in every constituency are unverifiable.
PTI chief said the list of lies of incumbent rulers is long; another is that the Chinese President has cancelled his scheduled visit of Pakistan because of sit-ins.
He said Chinese foreign office has confirmed that the president was not at all coming to Pakistan.
“A prime minister has to resign in any western democracy if exposed to such lies,” added he.
Imran also condemned killing of Ali Akbar Kumaili, the son of famous Shia scholar Allama Abbas Kumaili, and termed it as a conspiracy to spark sectarian violence in Karachi.
Akbar Kumaili were gunned down in Bhangoria Goth near Azizabad area of the city on Saturday evening.

A sudden definite change in Pakistan
Former president Zardari was infamous for being Mr 10 percent; the corruption within just one year of the Nawaz government has raised the commission in mega government projects allegedly to 30 percent

Long marches and sit-ins are the last thing an already chaotic and impoverished Pakistan needs. So, I was indignant when the marches by Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan began. More than two weeks in, their demands remain unmet but they have been dramatic catalysts in changing the mindset, opinions and expectations of Pakistanis. We learned the importance of the first information report (FIR) and how it is a charge with serious consequences. Two and a half months after the Model Town tragedy and much crying hoarse by Dr Tahirul Qadri, the FIR was finally lodged, naming the brothers Sharif in the murder, mayhem and terrorism of that sad day.
A person is only as good as his advisers. Nawaz Sharif would not score well on an IQ test but his political demise will be from the counter-intuitive advice he gets from his cabinet. Petrified of Dr Tahirul Qadri’s arrival and agenda, they legitimised a man who was viewed pretty much as a crazy cleric. And they introduced the syndrome of ‘containeritis’ in Punjab to prevent PAT and PTI fans from reaching Islamabad.
The remarkable discipline of PAT workers and their heart-warming simplicity and dedication make it difficult to believe that they are Pakistani. The widespread support of Imran Khan was seen in the PTI protests and sit-ins across the nation. Undoubtedly, Dr Tahirul Qadri is an orator. With complete control over history, theology, politics and the constitution, he is adept in building an argument and bringing it to a skilful climax.
Anxious to see a resolution to the political crisis, millions of Pakistanis at home and abroad have been captive audiences of Dr Tahirul Qadri’s and Imran Khan’s speeches. Pakistanis had become accustomed to the corruption of its recent democratically elected rulers but learning of the alleged magnitude of the Sharif clan’s corruption makes one angry. Former president Zardari was infamous for being Mr 10 percent; the corruption within just one year of the Nawaz government has raised the commission in mega government projects allegedly to 30 percent.
The rebellion of the Islamabad police was also stunning. First, the Senior Superintendent Police (SSP), Mohammad Ali Nekokara, refused to use force on PAT and PTI workers. So they called in SSP Ilyas who also declined. Finally, Asmatullah Junejo agreed to clean out the red zone. Over 780 police officers refused to use force on the protestors and over 2,000 police officers went to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Polyclinic (PIMS) hospital urging doctors to grant them medical leave.
Who would want to tear gas unarmed civilians and shoot at them with supposed rubber bullets, killing two and injuring over 500? The horrific police brutality on the personnel of several television channels was nauseating. Minister Saad Rafique said police brutality was unjustifiable and he did not know why it was happening. How about it happened because the order went out by the government and was caught on wireless? More jaw dropping was Nawaz Sharif reminding Chaudhry Nisar during a parliament session to specifically mention a private media group in the government’s apology. Nisar had the good sense not to. The media group’s personnel were the only ones that were not attacked. Nawaz Sharif exposed his affiliation with that media group and his IQ, or the lack of it, further.
Yazidi tactics were seen as well. The supply of water and food to the protestors was stopped, cars bringing them in were damaged and food and water were consumed by the police! Nawaz Sharif asking Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif to mediate the crisis and then lying about it, storybook style, on the parliament floor is egregious. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement that Nawaz Sharif had asked for the mediation.
The word democracy is bandied about by the government to hold onto power. The charge of murder and terrorism in the Model Town tragedy and violating the sanctity of parliament by blatantly lying are more than sufficient to be cause for an automatic resignation under the most basic premise of democracy. That parliament passes resolution after resolution supporting Nawaz Sharif means nothing when one member can vie with another in the magnitude of their respective looting of taxpayer money and self-enrichment, and providing cover to each other. The Urdu aphorism really sticks: iss hammam mein sab nangey hain (in this public bath they are all naked).
The day the crisis reached a head and the protestors moved toward the prime minister’s house almost everyone was convinced of an army intervention. And this is the most important change in Pakistan’s politics. What was reflexive previously did not happen, and is unlikely to in the future. Imran Khan is correct in demanding institutional rather than cult-oriented perversions of democracy. He gives the example of Switzerland where the prime minister’s name is not well known; Swiss institutions and processes run the country democratically.
Demanding the resignation of Nawaz Sharif does not destroy democracy, it strengthens it. For the longest time, Pakistan has been hostage to personalities rather than creating processes and building institutions. Pakistan’s kursi (throne) is magical; it can turn a sufi into Satan. The brothers Sharif and sycophantic parliamentarians painted the PTI and PAT as terrorists violating the sanctity of parliament. Video evidence, beamed across the world, of Chaudhry Nisar and PML-N workers scaling the walls of the Supreme Court (SC) exposes their hypocrisy and is irretrievably incriminating.
Quite the parliamentary metamorphosis was members vehemently condemning Nawaz Sharif. The 2013 elections were rigged and the government is involved in massive corruption was the chorus by PPP’s Aitzaz Ahsan and MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. Had the dharna (sit-in) and their demands not happened, parliament would not have recorded this.
The brothers Sharif are desperate now. The old British maxim of divide and rule is being employed. PTI members are being enticed to jump ship and Imran Khan’s situation is also getting difficult. Dr Tahirul Qadri has asked for school and entertainment supplies for the children in the sit-in, suggesting a long haul, but his negotiations with the government are said to be promising. Whether the PTI’s and PAT’s demands are met or not, Pakistanis must applaud Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan for suddenly transforming Pakistan’s socio-politics. We have been empowered in demanding pristine elections, removal of corrupt legislators, absolute personal integrity in the government and the smooth carriage of justice. And the brothers Sharif should go. Better to leave with grace than unceremoniously. Your political careers are over.

Subject: سیاسی بالغ نظری کا تاریخی ثبوت
THE DAILY JASARAT COLUMNIST MUZAFFAR AIJAZ ON "THE HISTORIC PROOF OF POLITICAL MATURITY"

Assalam-u-Alyekum

Want to share my soft and humble views to get expert comments from all you scholars. Couple of things seems to have been mixed up here.

(1) Muzaffar Ijaz Sahab’s arguments are just that when all parties are ready to save the government why Imran and Qadri are creating problems. He did miss the very core of the issue which is “the government was not established through legal, constitutional, just and fair method. The elections were tempered with." I don’t know why did he miss the very important point??

(2) Some people are equating two altogether separate and different cases here. One is opposition of the government because it got established using illegal, unconstitutional, unjust, fraudulent means and second is opposition of the government because of being pro-Imran or pro-Qadri. We must not mix up. First is truly justified and second is the continuation of the politics that we have always been in.

(3) Some people taunted Imran and Qadri using the name of Sita White and Shameless character respectively. Most of the people, even todays most supporters, know about this all but they are ready to forget because they need justice, law, constitution, and rule honestly not dishonestly. If we do not abandon living in the unnecessary past then lots of historical debate, like Jamaat-e-Islami provided illegal and unconstitutional support to Musharraf when he was Chief Executive and when he was made President in uniform and they ultimately deserve to be charged under Article 6 of Treason Charges along with Musharraf etc, may occur. Eventually no benefit for anyone.

(4) Qadri demand is justified though, in my humble reading, he is being induced in trying to utilize and capitalize Imran’s protest in his own favour. My reading is that Shia group is taping his shoulder which itself is not strong enough to gather political support on religious basis. They have already sidelined Deobandi and Wahabi sects. Therefore Qadri’s shoulder is immensely beneficial for them. As for Imran he had left all his bad habits 20 years back. Are 20 years not justified enough to restrict our criticism to his politics only instead of his personality?

(5) Syed Maududi (Allah bless him) must be discussed as he is the most followed scholar in this recent times and the biggest writer in the history of Urdu language. Moreover, his support to Fatima Jinnah was strongly criticized by the even greater a scholar, mufassir, muhaddith, faqih named Imam Amin Ahsan Islahi (Allah bless him). So it is yet to be decided undisputedly if his that decision was right or wrong.

Dear brothers,

You are looking at the fraudulent nature of a person. I am looking at the FAIR, JUST and RIGHTFUL DEMANDS of that fraudulent person.

Therefore I feel it my duty to follow the injunction of the holy Quran to cooperate with what is GOOD, RIGHT, JUST and PIOUS, as written in 2nd Verse of Surah Al-Maeda.

You say Maududi is not an eternal beacon for guidance, but what about Allah’s order to cooperate with the GOOD and JUST?

If a fraudulent person speaks some TRUTH, is it our duty to deny that TRUTH, if it is coming through the mouth of a fraudulent person?

Should we oppose a Rightful cause simply because it is sponsored by a fraudulent person? Should we start opposing such a Truth or just remain dumb and mum and see the drama as a silent spectator?

False messiahs and the siege of Islamabad

The ongoing standoff in Islamabad is likely to have a mix of positive and negative outcomes

Statecraft

SmallerDefaultLarger

False messiahs lead people to destructive revolutions, and destructive revolutions lead societies to turmoil. What is currently unfolding in Pakistan is an unmistakable testament to that. This is not to blame the many ordinary Pakistanis who have left their home and hearth, and have been keeping the vigil around Islamabad’s government installations: clearly, the demands made by protest leaders have struck a chord with a lot of well-meaning Pakistanis. For a people that yearn for electricity, water, and some good governance, anyone promising to deliver those is a messiah. But these self-styled messiahs – Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri– are no well-meaning saints who have it in them to positively change Pakistan. And even if they can, I am not sure if they should do so by forcibly overturning a legally elected government through a properly conducted election (going by South Asian standards).
The people of Pakistan will tell you that their Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is no saint: he is corrupt, and the tales of his nepotism are far too many.  But then which Pakistani politician is not corrupt? This is a structural problem that needs to be addressed systematically and legally. Alleged election rigging by Sharif’s party is also something that the Khan-Qadri duo has been bandying about. But if the elections were indeed rigged (that is, more than the previous elections), why would the losing Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) not make an issue out of it? On the contrary, PPP leader and former President, Asif Ali Zardari has indeed denounced the protests and extended his support to the Prime Minister. Indeed, most other Pakistani political parties, other than Imran Khan’s of course, have stood by the elected government in Islamabad.
In fact, the majority of the people of Pakistan, in whose name the ‘oust-Sharif campaign’ is being waged, are also reportedly not in favour of the Khan-Qadri revolution. The recent survey by the Pew Research Centre shows that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif enjoys 64% favourable opinion in the country today, way more than the support base of Imran Khan. In other words, here’s a revolution that is clearly anti-democratic and not supported by the major political parties of the country or significant number of Pakistani people.
One would have to admit that some of the ‘10-point demands’ put forward by the Qadri camp do look progressive: “The revolution will put an end to the practice of declaring minority Muslim sects as non-Muslims; No martial law shall be tolerated in Pakistan”. These liberal and forward-looking demands should indeed be pursued legally and constitutionally; there is no denying that. But what is deeply disturbing and distinctly paradoxical is that in order to fulfil demands such as “No martial law shall be tolerated in Pakistan”, the Khan-Qadri campaign is taking the help of the Pakistan army its

Thanks brother Zubair for your comments. I am surprised at the perverted thinking of those Islamists who do not bother about Allah’s instructions in the holy Quran, “COOPERATE WITH WHAT IS GOOD AND GOD-FEARING ACT AND DO NOT COOPERATE WITH EVIL AND DISOBEDIENCE (OF ALLAH)”. These persons are just engaged in fault-finding and neglecting the brighter and constructive side of this movement.

Can these perverted Islamists claim that the 6 demands of IK and 10 demands of TQ are not the calls of JUSTICE and rid the country out of corruption, nepotism and all other social or collective evils to a great or small extent and bring the country nearer to Islamic system of life that we want to implement in this country with the enforcement of Islamic Shariah?

Salam and many thanks for sharing the pics and columns janab Hussain Khan sahab. The situation provides testimony that Ik and TUQ with their power and energy  by sparking  a flame of  countrywide  wave of protest has created breaches and diversity of opinions and sentiments among the Islamic activists and leaders of 'daawah' and media persons  among Muslims of Pakistani origin.
Many among JI, Tanzeem -e Islami of Dr. Israr and others like admirers of janab Ghamidi and scholars at his academy 'Al Maurid have conflicting and diverging opinions about this uprising. Some support it on account that these two crazy persons are doing while  the sober Islamists could not do any thing noticiable to challenge the vulgar , corrupt and  the filthy rich rulers of the past almost at least in half a century of Pakistan's history but other 'saleheen and some of the proud  intellectuals  have reservations because they see some 'gahir saqah' things during the protest marches.
The subject and current violent  show of anger against the fake democratic system in the country needs attention of serious, honest, unprejudiced, impartial, and objective analysts  and historians most urgently lest it destroys all what is of 'baqimandah of Quaed-e Azam's Pakistan.

Khan sb, Assalamu Alaikum. The only way to choose is through election.Imran Khan has to wait for that. The last election on balance was accepted by all parties though they had reservation about Karachi and some Punjab seats. These can go through new election if  Supreme Court Judicial commission proposes that. The wholesale election demand is too much at this stage as the government party and most opposition do not want it.

My respected Khan Sahib,
Pls note that Sayed Maududi is not ultimate source of guidance and also
also not eternal beacon  of light. He never claimed this status.

To accept lesser evil is not brain child of SAAMs.

This is a point of 1400 hundreds  debate, SAAMs was one of participant
of this dialogue.

S Maududi have annexed in this debate when Fatima Jinnah came to contest
election. She was agreed that in minimum time she will make the rule of law in
order. She was not ambitious , she was not rough, she was no characterless
like Sita White fame playboy IK and even not was as TUQ.
TUQ is a shameless character,
to exploit the name of Muhammad Rasul Allah and un precedented  stunt man.
We have spent a time with him in Punjab University.
U r probably listening his rubbish summons or impressed by watching
his typical dress.  Sir, i am sorry to say that u r nothing know about him.

Excellent speeches appeared on Film Medium with Film Stars and
we know their dialogues and speeches have no place in history.

As a salaried Imam of masjid constructed by NS family at Model Town on out of plan plot, over ambitious TUQ hypnotized father of NS, by his powerful performance as orator. Since Sharifs could not meet all his ambitions, a personal clash of interests is deep rooted now.

I request every body to think again and avoid terms like 'pious' and so on without confirming from those who know TUQ personally.

As a sinful individual and resident of Model Town Lahore, I have heard him and his sermons at that time in Ittefaq Masjid for Juma Prayers.

Allah Pakistanion ko such smjhnay aur laffazi se mahfooz rehnay ki slahiyyat ata frmaiy. Aameen.

Ahsan.

If speeches are decisive instruments in history then pls note:
Excellent speeches appeared on Film Medium with Film Stars and
we know their dialogues and speeches have no place in history.

NAWAZ GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION SERIES~PART 1
CORRUPTION DOORS KEPT OPEN IN CHINESE $34 BILLION DOLLAR DEALS

MAULANA MAUDUDI HAS SAID TO CHOOSE LESSER EVIL, IF YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE
CORRUPT NAWAZ GOVERNEMNT IS LESSER EVIL OR DHARNA LEADERS?   (PART-1)

(5~2)
"Cooperate with all in what is good and pious but do not cooperate in what is sinful and wicked.
Fear Allah: for Allah is severe in retribution. (Al-Maeda~2)

If there is nothing "sinful and wicked" in the DEMANDS of Dharna leaders and these will bring about some "GOOD" for the country, why should we not cooperate to try to make those GOOD DEMANDS a success?

BY: HUSSAIN KHAN, TOKYO

Some people are criticizing the leaders of Dharna movement. Suppose the criticism is right. If it is so, then compare between the two choices and decide which may be THE LESSER EVIL?  Are these leaders involved in the type and the grand scale of CORRUPTION in which the Nawaz Sharif Government is involved?

Maulana Maududi has preached to adopt the Lesser Evil, if you have to choose any one of the two. He preferred to vote for Mohtarema Fatimah Jinnah as compared to the military dictator, Ayub Khan, even though, from Islamic point of view, he was against a woman being a Head of State. He also spoke in his speeches that if we have to choose between communist Russia and the capitalist America, we will choose America compared to the Godless Soviet Russia.

Following is a brief sample list of some corruption cases, which have occured recently during the last few months and have been published on the website of Transparentcy Internationa (PI) Pakistan. http://www.transparency.org.pk/

    TI Surveys
    Our Projects
  • Following report shows that big loan, not AID, of $34 Billion is being taken from the Chinese government on Interesrt rates which are more than double the rates of World Bank, Asian Development Bank or IMF.

The door for corruption has been kept open to grant Contracts to Chinese companies without any Bidding. In other words, whichever company offers bigger commissions in foreign accounts of Nawaz-nominated persons, those companese can get Contracts without any Biddings.

Unless Nawaz Sharif and his family members, HUSSAIN NAWAZ AND SALMAN SHAHBAZ, who had accompanied with him in the official delegation to China, transform themselves into angles or Sahaba (RATU)-like characters, will you give the benefit of doubt that Contracts will be awarded to Chinese companies without any demands for Commissions to Nawaz Sharif family members, who are incharge of Nawaz Group private businesses?

To facilitate getting commissions, Procurment Rules are being changed. Under the proposed amendment of Procurement rules, Government will be allowed to SET THE PRICE ITSELF for a certain type of work and award direct contract to any company without any bidding involved.

Governmenthas has already filed "Tariff Review Petition" to NEPRA. It is headed by KHAWAJA NAEEM,  a close relative of our Defence Minister KHAWAJA ASIF.

Usually one year is allowed if anyone wants to apply for review from the date any new rule takes effect. But, on the request of the Nawaz government, this rule has been twisted to keep the door open for corruption.

A recent example of it is published in Tribune, as follows:

"The Transparency International (TI) Pakistan said it had now received a complaint that NADRA had not implemented the Supreme Court’s Order and that the Contractors M/s Huawei Technology Company Limited were continuing executing the contract signed on 29.12.2009.
“The NAB chairman is requested to take action, according to the Supreme Court Orders, and also against all those who are responsible for corrupt practice under NAO 1999, Section 9. [He should also take action] against all those directly or indirectly involved in the process of such illegal acts on the basis of corruption, nepotism and political exigencies,” the letter recommends.
Published in The Express Tribune, September 3rd, 2014."

Why and how this corruption became possible, and how such a contract, declared illegal by our Supreme Court, was made possible? It was because of awarding the Contract to the Chinese company without ANY BIDDING. This factor is further clarified in the following section of the above-quoted report:

"TI (Transparency International) Pakistan said it had informed the finance minister about illegal award of contract of the Chinese firm and said that the Economic Coordination (ECC) would be committing contempt of court by allowing this contract.
TI Pakistan said it had told the ministry that the Supreme Court has ordered the government on May 16, 2011 to ensure transparency in $233.7 million contract with Hauwei Technology through open bidding rather than focusing single company from China."

Subject: Fwd: GRAND THEFT is supposed to begin soon

    ---------- Forwarded message ----------
Please circulate widely so that this govt of thieves and criminals is exposed.

The actual GRAND THEFT is supposed to begin soon:

The $34 Billion investment from China that they keep parroting about isn't actually an investment, it’s a LOAN

This LOAN carries a FEE/INTEREST RATE of 7% whereas the project loans Pakistan gets from ADB/WB etc are usually at a rate of 2-4%

To avail this LOAN, the condition is that there will be NO BIDDING for the project and Government will award contracts directly to Chinese companies (or companies that will utilize Chinese equipment and contractors)

For this to happen, Government is amending Procurement rules since currently it’s not possible to award such contracts without BIDDING

Procurement rules amendment will allow Government to SET THE PRICE ITSELF for a certain type of work and award direct contract to any company without any bidding involved

Most of this Loan will be utilized for Coal based Power Projects for which Government has already filed a “Tariff Review Petition” in NEPRA headed by Khawaja Naeem – a close Relative of Khawaja Asif

Despite the fact that this “Tariff review petition” was not maintainable since it was filed a year after review period expired, NEPRA has accepted the petition and on Government’s request and has approved New escalated Upfront Tariffs for Coal based Power Projects

Government has requested (and NEPRA approved) to allow $1.7 Million Dollar per Mega Watt construction cost for such projects whereas India has recently built a better and more efficient (than approved by NEPRA) Coal based power plant at a cost of $ 0.55 Million Dollar per Mega Watt

So Now, with NO BIDDING involved, Government will award contracts with a construction Cost of $ 1.7 Million per Mega Watt and hence 2/3rd of it will go into pockets of all the people involved

This also explains why “Hussain Nawaz” and “Salman Shahbaz” (who look after family business and have no apparent involvement in Politics) were not only part of state delegation but were also part of meetings that discussed and finalized these MOUs

This does not end here, NEPRA has also revised the ‘Rate of Return’ on investment from 17% to 27% (an unprecedented step) for these projects.

And Not surprisingly, first company to announce a Coal based Power project under this program is owned by Mian Mansha _

So Now, be ready for country to be burdened further by $34 Billion Loan and a higher Electricity tariff…

If everything goes as planned, at the end of the day “Some” will have their pockets heavier by 10-15 Billion Dollars or more….

On Transparency International website, letter written to Ministry of Water and Power reg this is available

Who went on China visit and was part of meetings is widely reported in Media

Sources are NEPRA, Transparency International, and DAWN/THE NEWS

Also Nishat Energy is the company that announced to build Coal based plants with Chinese 'Investment'

On NEPRA website, one can find Govt's petition and NEPRA announcement document for Upfront Coal Tariff

Maududi has never said to support or oppose certain PERSONS. He has said whatever PERSONS in the government, if they implement Shariah in place of us, we will support such PERSONS. Therefore, please forget about PERSONS. In Urdu it is said that we are concerned with eating mangoes, not with counting the trunks of mango trees.
Maududi has said what Quran has said: “TA-AWANU ALAL BIRRE WO TAQWA WA LA TA-AWANU ALAL ISME WO UDWAN.”
It says to cooperate with all that is Good and Pious and do not cooperate with what is Evil and Disobedience (of Allah).

You are saying that demand for resignation of the Prime Minister is not justified. OK. Suppose you are right. But what about those demands which have been accepted. Why should we not appreciate that almost all other demands to improve social, economic and political life in Pakistan have been accepted? If BAD PERSONS have been successful to improve demands of JUSTICE in our country, shall we condemn them? Will you, I, and all people of Pakistan will not be benefitted by the acceptance of those demands? Do these bad persons deserve to be condemned or should they be appreciated for their contributions?

There is a Hadith that Allah forgave a BAD WOMAN, who was a prostitute simply because she gave drinking water to a dog who was thirsty. There are several Ahadith that all those BAD PERSONS will be forgiven by Allah who become SHAHEED. If these BAD PERSONS in DHARNAS have been successful in bringing some better changes in our country resulting in more justice and fairness in Pakistsan, do you think Allah will not forgive their sins and BAD life in the past, if there was any? To support a just cause, it should not be a criteria to see that some BAD PERSONS have taken lead to promote a just CAUSE.

Of course maudoodi did not teach to remain mum but where he said to support the persons like tuq lK who are not so good as you say.the question of mobs collection is much better claimed by jammaat and mqm as compared to these sectarian mullas  and dancing vulgars  who are few thousand in  nos and come just to enjoy concerts.lf  the criteria for change is just gathering few thousand people then no one can rule over country for any assigned period. All geniun demands have been accepted but is resignation in such manner justified .if it is the right way then why musharaf ,Zia ', yahya ,ayub ,ghulam Muhammad were wrong.

Thank you very much for your excellent support of my views and good rejoinder against criticism of these views.
So far they are peaceful and doing nothing against Maududi instructions to do peaceful protests and demonstrations to bring change.
Almost all their demands for the betterment of system have been accepted by the government except the resignation of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Punjab.
They have stood firm for last 2 weeks and have been peaceful and demanding a better Pakistan. What is wrong?
Holy Quran says, TA-AWANU ALAL BIRRE WO TAQWA WA LA TA-AWANU ALAL ISME WO UDWAN. It says to cooperate with all that is Good and Pious and do not cooperate with what is Evil and Disobedience (of Allah). They have achieved something which Jamaat could not achieve so far due to its passivity to activate masses against corruption, nepotism, election fraud, injustice all over including the Model Town killings by our brutal Police.  Has Maududi, Maulana Islahi or Dr. Israr have told us to remain mum and just become an spectator against all the evils around us and criticize those who are trying to rise against these evils in a peaceful way?

    Hussain Khan, M. A. Tokyo

My dear Chaudri Saee sahab, I am happy to see your critical rejoinder. Difference in opinion and approach is natural and should be respected if based on honesty but perhaps you did not read my note carefully. I dont support Ik unconditionally but comapre him with others in the field. 'saleheen' were unable to mobilize masses and he has done it to challenge the culprits with the help of ordinary "vulgar" boys and girls of the common culture who may not be decent but  are not criminals . That is all. Many  inside "MASOORAH" also wanted to support him in general elections and our Sirjulhaq sahab has joined PTI government and has declared his 5 out of 6 demands genuine------ which does not mean that he is one of them. If you have to choose from only  ZARDARI, NAWAZ and IMRAN  who will you vote for? I will vote for IK. Will you abstain?
     Wassalam all,

    Zubair.

I visited the email about support of lk and tuq but l am surprised to read that Hussain khan is doing all his wishing using maudoodi who never acted and advised to act against constitution and law even at the event of Allahbux shaheed never dr israr nor lslahi then on what basis you are supporting and comparing their attitude and character with those poiuse persons .the character and address of these people is well known to majority. of companion of NS are corrupt and rascals then what is your opinion about chaudhariies shkh rashid ,mahmood qurashi abrarulhaq''nachh punjaban'' shahzad rai''mann ja saali'' Hamid raza bhai iltaf and so many others. for Allah don't use maudoodi. Islhi or israr for your own wishes.l am very much shocked that there not single person in the nation including ulemas. Politician who can categorically say that these demands are correct and these are wrong. every one show some elasticity, give and take is advised. Pity for this ''baangh'' nation.people say that that these acts has been practiced in then will you support the prostitution act if it had been practiced in past.just look at sardar said Ahmed Ali and has been components of every government even beputy prime minster. Allah has that if you hear something then don't say any word unless become sure of version. I think Ramsay justice is agood man but he is also blamed. all blames are with proof just based upon assumptions. We should preach for not for less or more evils.

Mohtaram Hussain Khan sahab salam wa aadab,
It is interesting and very pragmatic approach that you have taken this initiative. Islam loving intellectuals and activists have been  in a state of confusion especially those who were inspired by the intellectual movement of Syed Maudoodi for long but gradually many of them felt disillusioned by successive developments resulting in worsening situations and failures of JI in gaining any visible success politically and  winning elections. They are/ were disappointed and lost faith in 'democratic' process and corrupt system of electioneering in the country. Some turned to Dr. Israr Ahmad's call  and devoted their energies for a 5 stage revolutionary  scheme suggested by Dr.Israr (alaiherrahamh) in his manifesto for his Tanzeem -e-Islami but that also did not  make noticeable progress. In this background later many more serious and sober persons who were  less sentimental in temperament became influenced by  Maulana Islahi's disciple Javed Ghamidi whose academic work and intellectual status was seen superior and more logical and forceful  representing Farahi school of thought. He was totally apolitical and stresses on intellectual 'dawah' work rationally.

Javed Ghamidi's thought process suggests 'dawah' , education and intellectual movement  to teach Islam in it's pure form based on Quranic guidance  as the only way out for positive change as well as for social and political reform. In principle it is certainly correct but Ghamidi sahab has not been able to present a practical and pragmatic programme for the immediate challenges which have been created by a corrupt leadership in Pakistan and elsewhere in the Muslim world/ societies.  He does not make comfortable those who are fed up of the miserable conditions all around  and are on the verge of losing their patience.
To challenge the present evils and vices surrounding us we are still groping in darkness to find a way out and plan of action and no one solution presented by political leaders and thinkers and religious reformers  seems to be perfect and free of drawbacks and hazards.
We have to look for light and wisdom from Quran's teachings and the sunnah of the last Prophet(PBUH). Till we find it and develop a sort of agreement on it's fundamentals  we must be content to what we have at hand and choose what is 'lesser  evil' . Hence I fully agree with your initiative under present circumstances  to support IK and PTI.This is just as when Syed Maudoodi (alaihaerrahamah) supported and advised to vote for Muslim League at the time of  elections in 'Frontier' before partition in 1946 although he had criticized ML and it's leadership severely  during  the struggle for independence for almost the same reasons and similar grounds on which we can easily criticize IK today. But Ik is financially  clean and honest far better in integrity( as a follower of Qaed-Azam and admirer of Iqbal) than those who are ruling and plundering the country now from both the 'major political groups' and  who can mobilize the masses and seems capable to bring a change in society and make Pakistan free from corruption and  achieve social reform to  'some extent' at least if not making it  an ideal Islamic polity.  It is not advisable for Islamic activists and scholars to remain indifferent and 'neutral'  but  instead advise their students and followers  to support Ik and even TUQ 'for the time being ' as  it is a decisive moment in the nation's history.  We ought to be above party lines and personal likes and dislikes  and help those who are doing and can do some thing. Rememberwhat Akbar had said about Sir Syed."HAMARI  BATEIN HI BATEIN HAEIN SYED KAM KARTA THA".
As Syed Maudoodi  had said once ,if an scholar sitting in his private home sees a house burning  outside it is his prime duty to leave his work and rush to help those who are trying to extinguish the fire and save the victims. Gen Ayub Khan in a personal meeting with Syed Maudoodi  advised him to leave politics and concentrate on 'academic work'. Syed replied  that to leave political work for  the ignorant and characterless people will never be good for any political and social reform.
However 'difference of opinion' is the spirit of Islamic society and  Janab Ghamidi  also allows and  respects 'difference' of opinion and perhpas does not mind if one of his admirer and student differs with him..He must allow his students to support and help IK or TUQ and vote for any one of  them when time comes /and if  they wish  and think it appropriate under  the present circumstances. I appreciate the role of Janab Sirajulhaq, Ameer JI to settle the present crises peacefully and support most of the demands of IK in spite of being a   man from "outside". He has understood the realities on the ground perhaps better than his immediate predecessors.
IK has been vocal and has courage and energy and  has been   effective in challenging the corrupt system by creating a big dent in it and hence  supporting him will be a source of 'ajr' and  blessings of Allah taala.
I pray and wish you all success.

Demonstrate in Tokyo in Support of  Imran Khan
and Dr. Tahir-ul Quadri Demands for JUSTICE

In Washington and London, demonstrations are held in support of the demands of Imran Khan and Dr. Tahir Quuadri.
I suggest and request to the leaders, workers and supporters of Tehrik-e-Insaf, Minhajul Quran and MQM in Tokyo to hold a joint demonstrations in front of Pakistan embassy tomorrow on Friday at 3 p.m., as there parent organizations including MQM in Pakistan are all supporting and demonstrating for their demands. MQM leader Alaf Hussain and Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishratul Ibad have also announced full support for their demands. Jamaat-e-Islami has also announced that failure of sit-in demonstrations of PTI and PAT will be a great disappointment and disaster on national level.

I have written the following Memorundum, which if they like, can present to the embassy after the demonstration.

    MEMORUNDUM
    TO
    August 29, 2014
    H. E. Mr. Nawaz Sharif,
    The Prime Minster of Pakistan,
    Islamabad

THROUGH H. E. THE AMBASSADER OF PAKISTAN IN JAPAN
    Dear Sir,

We, the supporters of the demands of PTI Leader, Imran Khan and PAT Leader, Dr. Tahirul Quadri, who have been demonstrating and holding sit-in demonstrations in front of Pakistan Parliament in Islamabad and all over Pakistan in various cities, are demonstrating here in front of Pakistan Embassy in Tokyo today.  Other political parties like MQM and its Leader Alaf Hussain and Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishratul Ibad have also announced full support for their demands. Religious parties like Milli Yakjehti Council, Sunni Ittehad Council and Jamaat-e-Islami have also announced their full support for these demands. Jamaat-e-Islami Leader, Mr. Sirajul Haq, after consulting with its Executive consultative body, Shura, has further announced that failure of sit-in demonstrations of PTI and PAT will be a great disappointment and disaster on national level.

Most of the analysts on different TV channels and even some prominent Peoples Party leaders like Barrister Aitezaz Hasan, Shermila Faruqui, Qamruzzaman Quaira and others are also supporting that the FIR should be registered as per judgments delivered by a Lahore Sessions Judge and endorsed by Lahore High Court. 14 persons of Minhajul Quran have become Shaheed and about hundred persons have been wounded by the murderous and barbaric firing of Punjab Police on unarmed innocent civilians of Minhajul Quran at Model Town. Even in all wars, every care is taken that the innocent civilians are not harmed in any way at all. This barbarism of Punjab Government is unpardonable and the culprits should be punished according to Law, as demanded by Dr. Tahirul Quadri. Intelligence Agencies have records of telephone conversations between Chief Minister (CM) Shabaz Sharif and Police officials, if Punjab CM does not order to destroy them, in addition to Special Commission Investigation Report appointed one-sidedly by the Chief Minister himself that Punjab government is responsible for this murderous attack.

Over 2 months have passed and a FIR is still not allowed to be registered. Such high-handed actioned of government is condemned by all in Pakistan. Government is intentionally obstructing this registration. Victims are not allowed to file their FIR. The killers and murderers are filing their own one-sided FIR accusing their dead and wounded victims. Entire nation is against the prevalence of such an injustice on such a broad level. It is the eternal Law of History that governments and groups executing INJUSTICE cannot save themselves from being annihilated from earth. Allah will surely help those who rise up for the cause of JUSTICE.

There are proofs that widespread fraud was engineered in 2013 elections and fake Ballot papers were printed at private printing presses. Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar has himself announced that about 60,000 to 70,000 unverified bogus votes were possibly added at almost every election booth. Therefore there is no iota of doubt that the electoral Mandate has been stolen. Downfall of Bhutto was also caused by his widespread vote-rigging and election fraud. It resulted in widespread demonstrations against election fraud. This provided opportunity for Gen. Ziaul Haq to impose Martial Law.

How an impartial investigation by the Supreme Court can be possible under the nose of the same Prime Minister Administration who is accused of widespread vote-rigging. If any one Party in any dispute alleges, even if is not proved, about the impartiality of any appointed Judge or Justice, such a person is not included in the panel of Justices of such a dispute. Therefore, the demand for the temporary resignation of such a Prime Minister, who is accused with some solid apparent proofs of vote-rigging and fraud on a large scale until the Supreme Court investigation, is completely justified.

Some blind supporters of government injustice prevalent at different levels and in different departments argue that if Prime Minister resigns, it will give birth to a bad precedent. Every Tom, Dick and Harry can bring a crowd of a few thousands to Islamabad and ask each and every Prime Minister to resign under such a pressure of public demonstrations.

This is a misleading and fallacious argument and is not tenable due to the following facts:

    1)      If such a precedent is set against the injustice and naked aggression on innocent lives of civilians under the administration of any such biased, partisan and unfair Prime Minister, who does not even allow to file a FIR against it by the victims for its fair and impartial investigation, and whose election-rigging and fraud is exposed by solid proofs in Media, then it will be an extremely admirable and welcome precedent. It will prevent others in power to tread the same or similar path again and again.

    2)      In the annals of history, there are many instances of rulers being dethroned by mass revolts and demonstrations and these are named as Revolutions. Look at French Revolution or Russian Revolution or Iranian Revolution dethroning Shah of Iran or Philippine Revolution dethroning President Marcos and several others like these. These have not set any precedent in those countries that gave birth to depose the rulers again and again by demonstrations of a few thousand people. It is not so easy for every Tom, Dick and Harry to assemble crowd to overthrow governments. Such revolutions occur once in centuries in the history of countries where INJUSTICE is prevalent. When these occur once, they set such precedent that no future government dares to do even any small Injustice.

    3)      During the last 67 years of our country a lot of frustration has accumulated in the hearts of our people. In Pakistan, we have now almost the same situation as it was in 2011 in Tunisia. It has been described by a writer in the following words. “Demonstrations were precipitated there by high unemployment, food inflation, corruption, lack of providing justice to the under-privileged, and poor living conditions. The protests constituted the most dramatic wave of social and political unrest in Tunisia in three decades. These resulted in scores of deaths and injuries, most of which were the result of action by police and security forces against demonstrators. The protests were sparked by the self-immolation of Mohamed Bouazizi on 17 December 2010 and led to the ousting of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali 28 days later on 14 January 2011, when he officially resigned after fleeing to Saudi Arabia, ending 23 years in power. Labour unions were said to be an integral part of the protests. The protests inspired similar actions throughout the Arab world. It did not set any such precedent, as the critics of Imran Khan and Dr. Quadri say that started dethroning other rulers again and again by such demonstrations.

    4)      In our country the spark was ignited by carelessness of the government to address the demand of Imran Khan to check voting in 4 electorates. Then the incident of killing 14 innocent civilians by Punjab Police and the government not allowing yet even to file a FIR on behalf of the victims ignited another spark leading to emitting of lava from a volcano of 67 years of frustrations of the poor and the underprivileged. All such injustices and frustrations will naturally lead to country-wide demonstrations and protests.

We therefore request you to accept the demands of Imran Khan and Dr. Tahirul Quadri to bring peace and justice in our country and save it from financial loss of millions of Rupees daily due to allowing this volcano of frustration and injustice to burn incessantly.
