Subject: {GRP} Pakistan needs help: Civilians under attack by Paki air force, artillery, tanks. 60,000 refugees already.

60,000 PEOPLE ALREADY BECAME HOMELESS IN NORTH WAZIRISTAN AS A RESULT OF OPERATION

Jamaat al-Muslimeen [USA] has always opposed Pakistani military operations against the Islamic populations of northern Pakistan. Now we see with shock and dismay that Pakistani military has launched an all out air and land offensive against the people of North Waziristan.

Military units have been brought into all major Pakistani cities to stop protests against this assault on a defenseless population. In the first round of bombing two weeks back, more than 100 people were killed and 60,000 left their homes.

Ten Islamic fighters retaliated by attacking a part of Karachi airport. It was a targeted raid in which civilians were not attacked. Using the Karachi raid as an excuse, the Pakistani military is attacking the entire population of North Waziristan.

Heavy artillery, jet fighters and helicopter gunships are being used in indiscriminate attacks on villages. Another 100 plus people have already been killed. The Pakistani military claims these are "suspected Taliban" but is not allowing any journalists or other observers into the area
